What is the UAE Golden Visa and what are the reasons it was introduced to the world?

The Dubai Golden Visa is a long-term residence visa for foreign nationals to live, work or study in the UAE. It was an endeavor to project UAE as a destination for business investment, encourage growth and recognize the expatriate community that has always played a role and generously contributed to its development. The UAE Golden Visa is for five to ten years and is renewable once it has lapsed. It offers extensive benefits to overseas nationals that include an entry visa with multiple entries, no need for a sponsor, and one can stay outside of UAE for more than six months. UAE Golden Visa holders can sponsor an unlimited number of domestic helpers and their family members who can stay in UAE until the end of the permit duration if the primary holder of the Golden Visa has passed away.

What are the types and requirements for UAE Golden Visa?

GOLDEN VISA DUBAI – ATHLETES

Description

For 10 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  It is granted to the applicant and family members.

Requirements

A recommendation letter from the General Authority of Sports in Dubai or the Dubai Sports Council. Copy of the passport. Passport-size photograph. Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.

Procedure

Apply online for a recommendation letter from the General Authority of Sports Dubai or the Dubai Sports Council. Authority requirements are separate.  After getting a letter from the mentioned authority, present the necessary documents to the expert immigration service provider and make a payment. The time frame is between 2 to 5 working days. Waiting time for a recommendation letter is not included.

ABU DHABI GOLDEN VISA – OUTSTANDING STUDENT

Description

For 5 or 10 years and does not need a sponsor. It gets renewed automatically if the conditions remain the same.  The parents of an outstanding student who ranked the highest in the country, siblings, and dependents on the father are granted an Abu Dhabi Golden Visa for the same period in the event of their stay in the UAE. 

Requirements

High school student who ranked highest in the country with a minimum grade of 95 percent in public and private secondary schools is granted a Golden Visa for 5 years and does not need a sponsor. The requirements are:

Recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education (Emirates Schools Establishment). The duration of the Golden Visa for the student is 5 years and may be extended if he enrolls in one of the major colleges in the country that requires a study period of more than five years, such as the College of Human Medicine.

A university student is granted a Golden Visa for a period of 10 years and does not need a sponsor. The requirements are:

Recommendation letter from the university or an accredited graduation certificate or an accredited academic record stating that the student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.8.

Copy of the passport. Passport-size photograph. Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.

Procedure

Apply for recommendation letters from the Ministry of Education for a high school student, from a university or an accredited graduation certificate or an accredited academic record stating that the student’s cumulative GPA is not less than 3.8 for a university student. DUBAI GOLDEN VISA – CREATIVE SPECIALISTS IN CULTURE AND ART

Description

For 10 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  It is granted to the applicant and family members. 

Requirements

A recommendation letter from the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. Authority requirements are separate.  Copy of the passport. Passport-size photograph. Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.

Procedure

Apply for a recommendation letter from Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. After getting the letter from the mentioned Authority, present the necessary documents to the expert immigration service provider and make a payment. The time frame is between 7 to 10 working days. DUBAI GOLDEN VISA – DOCTORS

Description

For 10 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  It is granted to the applicant and family members.

Requirements

Accredited letter by the Health Authority or Ministry of Health in the country stating the name of the doctor’s practice and the Medical License. Copy of the passport. Passport-size photograph. Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any. Copy of labor card.  Copy of labor contract from MOHRE.  Copy of the sponsored residency.

Attested Bachelor's degree or higher, or a letter of equivalency for the academic degree from the Ministry of Education in case the certificate is from outside of UAE.  A work contract in any of the following professions:  Epidemiology and Virology   Artificial Intelligence   Big Data   Computer Engineering   Electronics Engineering  Software Engineering   Electrical Engineering   Genetic Engineering   Biotechnology Engineering Copy of the passport. GOLDEN VISA DUBAI – ENTREPRENEURS

Description

A visa will be granted for a period of 5 years to an entrepreneur whose project is progressive or technical in nature based on risk and innovation.  It will be granted to a husband or wife and their unmarried daughters and unmarried sons for a period of 5 years.

Requirements

A letter from an accredited auditor in the UAE stating that the project value is not less than AED 500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand). An approval letter from the concerned authorities stating that the project is progressive and technical in nature. A letter from an accredited business incubator or a competent authority stating that the project is progressive and technical in nature.

This application for entrepreneurs is submitted through Dubai Future Foundation.

Executive Directors working for an Entrepreneur

With the Dubai Golden Visa, an Entrepreneur may appoint 3 Executive Directors for a period of 5 years:

A letter from the entrepreneur mentioning the job responsibilities of the Executive Directors. A pledge from the Executive Directors to work throughout the residency period with the Entrepreneur.  Submit a copy of the university degree duly certified.

Abu Dhabi Golden Visa – Executive Directors

Description

10 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  Granted to the applicant and family members.

Requirements

NOC from the Company stated that the company does not mind the Golden residency. The service period must not be less than 5 years as a General Manager/Executive Director/Chairman of the board. Attested copy of the university degree not less than a Bachelors duly accredited by the Ministry of Education. A letter of Experience not less than 5 years holding the same position. Salary certificate not less than AED 50,000. Labour contract with the same profession and salary. Bank statements for the last 6 months. Passport size photograph. Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, If any.

GOLDEN VISA DUBAI – INVESTORS

Description

For 5 or 10 years and does not need a sponsor. It will be automatically renewed if the conditions are the same.  The Golden Visa Dubai will be granted to a husband or wife and their unmarried daughters and unmarried sons for a period of 5 years.

Requirements

Investor in an Investment Fund (Commercial Investor) 

Company's Financial Report for the previous year made by the company's financial auditor.  Company's Trade License and photocopy of partners' names.  Copy of sponsored residency.  Company's bank statements for the last 3 months.  Company's VAT Return for the previous year. 

Investor in an Investment Fund (Deposit) 

A note must be mentioned in a letter from the bank in Arabic stating: “The fixed deposit will not be broken for the next two years” OR “In case the fixed deposit is broken for any reason, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai must be notified”. Copy of the sponsored passport.   Tenancy contract.

 Tax Return Investor

A letter from the Federal Tax Authority.  Company's Trade License and photocopy of the list of partners’ names. Copy of the passport. Passport size photograph. Emirates ID, if any.  Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.

10-year visa is granted if any of these documents are submitted for this category.

Letter from an investment fund accredited in the UAE stating that there is a deposit of AED 2 million (Two Million).  OR a valid commercial or industrial license with an investor’s Memorandum of Association of his/her company stating that the investment capital is not less than AED 2 million (Two Million). OR a letter from the Federal Tax Authority stating that the investor is the owner of a company that pays the government no less than AED 250 (Two Hundred And Fifty Thousand Annually). Other types of licenses are not accepted, only commercial or industrial licenses are approved. A license issued at free zones or special development zones, a “To Whom It May Concern Certificate” issued from the relevant free zone authority is required.

Real Estate Investor 

A letter from the Real Estate Registration Department in Dubai Emirate stating that the investor owns one or more properties that value no less than AED 2 million (Two million), stating that the property is not subject to a loan.  The value of these real estate investments is permitted to be a loan for what exceeds the value of AED 2 million (Two million).

REQUEST FOR GOLDEN VISA – INVESTOR

Description

10 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  It is granted to the applicant and family members.

Requirements

Minimum AED 2 million value property or owned share in one property or more in the applicant’s name. In case the property is a mortgage, a NOC letter from the bank to issue a visa against the property and show the paid and remaining amounts. Passport. Availability of an electronic copy of the title deed certificate. Personal photograph. Valid health insurance. Original Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.

Procedure

Present all necessary documents to Dubai Land Department's main office or Dubai World Trade Center. Medical examination will be conducted in the center.  The time frame is between 7 to 10 working days. 

REQUEST FOR DUBAI GOLDEN VISA – RETIRED

Description

5 years and does not need a sponsor. It is subject to renewal.  Husband or wife and children can be sponsored.

Requirements

Age to be 55 years and above for a retired investor.  Minimum AED 1,000,000 fully paid, not mortgaged value of one or more properties in the applicant’s name OR deposit AED 1 million in any local bank for 3 years. Present a letter from the bank to the immigration that the deposit cannot be released within 3 years. **Husband and wife can share one property but a marriage certificate is required.** Passport. Availability of an electronic copy of the title deed certificate. Passport size photograph. Valid health insurance. Original Emirates ID, if any. Copy of the latest UAE visa, if any.
