  Family Visa Rules 2021  In Dubai

  1. Both employers and employees with a valid residence visa can sponsor their families, if they have a minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 plus accommodation.
  2. Since March 2019, the type of profession is no longer a criterion for a family visa in Dubai.
  3. If the father of the family is residing in UAE and meets the conditions for sponsoring his children, then the mother is not allowed to sponsor them.
  4. Family visa UAE is issued depending on the work nature and labor contract up to 3 years.
  5. Resident sponsors have 60 days' time to apply for their dependents’ residence visas after they enter the UAE.
  6. In order to obtain a family visa in UAE, the applicant aged 18+ should undergo a medical fitness test at government-approved health centers in the UAE.
  7. The person needs to submit an authenticated marriage certificate to sponsor his wife. The certificate must be duly translated into Arabic by a certified translator.
  8. In certain strict cases, Muslims are permitted to sponsor two wives, only if they meet all the necessary conditions.
  9. Residents can only sponsor their daughters if they are unmarried.
  10. Residents can sponsor their son up to the age of 18. If your son is studying he can be sponsored till the age of 21.
  11. An expatriate resident can sponsor their stepchildren subject to GDRFA’s guidelines.
  12. An employee can sponsor both parents. To do so, you must submit a guarantee for each parent stipulated by the respective immigration department.
  13. A woman can sponsor her family if she holds a residence visa with a monthly salary not less than AED 8000 plus accommodation.
  14. The resident woman should be an engineer, nurse, teacher, doctor, or any other professional related to the medical sector.

The employee must also sign this application. Then, the employer should apply to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) for visa cancellation. The company must also cancel the work permit. For this, it must submit a letter signed by the employee stating that he has already received all his wages and end of services benefits to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Documents required

The following documents are required for canceling a residence visa through GDRFA:

  1. Cancellation form signed by the sponsor
  2. If the sponsor is a company or a firm, the cancellation form must be signed and sealed by the company stamp and a clearance certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation must be attached
  3. The original passport of the sponsored
  4. Original identity card of the sponsored

 Requirements for Visa Extension 

  1. A copy of the guarantor's passport's first, last, and visa pages
  2. A copy of the guarantor's Emirates ID
  3. A copy of each visitor's passport's first and last pages
  4. Each visitor's passport-size photograph, taken against a white background
  5. Each visitor's passport should have a minimum validity of 6 months
  6. Guarantor’s U.A.E residence visa copy with a minimum validity of 3 months
